Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Moroccan Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training, Mr. Rachid Belmokhtar, said in an interview with the Moroccan daily Assabah, in its Monday edition, that “most French instructors in Morocco do not master the French language,” stressing that it is the main reason from where the issue with learning the French language in the primary level in Morocco emanates.

“From the 128,000 teachers who teach in the primary level in Morocco, only 60,000 can teach Arabic and French, while the rest can only teach in one language,” Belmokhtar stressed.

Belmokhtar said that his Ministry has launched a survey to determine the exact number of teachers who master the French language, especially that the High Council of Teaching and Scientific Research recommended the use of French as the main foreign language parts of its 2015-2030 strategy.
