Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Government of Morocco has accepted the applications of 550 Syrian  refugees and will issue shortly 550 asylum cards to concerned refugees, the Moroccan Minister in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad Anis Birou said.

“We are currently divising a plan to help the refugees integrate with the Moroccan society, a plan which will include education, housing, professional training, health, job search and many more,” Birou said.

It is worth reminding that upon the start of the civil war in Syria, many Syrians crossed from Algeria illegally to Morocco, seeking refuge.

As Morocco requires all Syrian nationals to have a Visa before entering Moroccan soil, and as Algeria did not require a visa for Syrian nationals until the beginning of 2015, many Syrians travelled first to Algeria, before crossing illegally to Morocco.
