Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The ongoing Teacher trainees crisis seems to be finally heading towards a solution following Morocco’s Civil Society Initiative (CSI) suggesting yesterday a mutual satisfactory proposition, one welcomed so far by both parties of the conflict, the Moroccan government and the National Council for Teacher-trainees, representing teacher trainees.

Abdesadek Kertit, a member of the National Council for Teacher-trainees, said that “the CSI proposed a new suggestion which stressed that all teacher trainees will to be employed by next January, after sitting for an exam in December.”

Kertit added, “a meeting is to be held in Rabat to discuss the new initiative and come up with an agreement about it.”

The NCT expressed its unflagging commitment to any initiative that contributes to solving the problem of teacher trainees, stressing that the latest proposition constitutes a good common ground to reach a solution.

It is worth mentioning that teacher trainees have been protesting for the last 5 months. They are asking the government to separate training from employment, and revert their decision to lower their monthly scholarship from MAD 2450 to 1200, or in other words cancel the recently adopted governmental decrees N: 588-15-2 and N: 589-15-2.
