Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred said yesterday on the sidelines of a press conference he gave few hours before performing in the Mawazine Festival that he did not rape anyone, calling the media reports linking him to a rape case, that supposedly took place in the US back in 2010, “a rumor.”

“This is an old story,” Saad stressed.

“The reason behind all this fuss around this, at this particular moment, is my success,” Saad went on further to say.

Saad said that the girl who accused him and her defense choose the right moment to kick the rumor as they were well aware that he will give a press conference in the wake of Mawazine, a world renowned event where media from all over the world is present.

Saad stressed that they choose the right moment aiming to trigger a media sensation about the case.

“I deny all the charges,” Saad confidently said.

“I have a lawyer that is currently taking care of following the case,” Saad added.

“I hope the media does not poke its nose in my private life,” Lamjarred added.

“The more a singer becomes popular and successful, the more people will try to create problems for him and start rumors,” Lamjarred stressed.

The Moroccan singer went on to say that the reports saying that the Interpol had issued a warrant to arrest him are all but true, stressing that he is “not subject to any search warrant.”

“I’ll be travelling soon to the US and Canada to perform,” Lamjarred closed.
