Frankfort, Germany (TMT)- Mohamed Boussaid, Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance, was named MENA region Finance Minister of the Year by international magazine Global Markets.
Boussaid applied several major reforms to the Moroccan economy sector. This resulted in balanced macroeconomic indicators for the kingdom, by the end of his term.
Also, under Boussaid’s term, Morocco’s budget smoothed down to 3.7% this year after reaching 7% in 2012.
Global Markets shed light in particular on the commitment and determination of Boussaid to implement a wide-range of reforms, including the reform of the compensation system, strengthening Morocco’s social safety nets, the reform of the pension system, as well as preparing Morocco for the country’s next year transition to a new exchange rate apparatus.
