Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Unidentified assailants shot and killed former Moroccan parliamentarian Abdellatif Merdas, as he was getting ready to leave his car outside his home in Casablanca’s California neighborhood, on Tuesday night.
Merdas, who represented the Constitutional Union Party in the house of representatives, was instantly killed, passing away inside his Audi car.
According to an early investigation, the assailants used a shotgun when performing their criminal act.
The man had been shot in the head twice, while a third bullet penetrated his chest.
The Moroccan authorities are afoot trying to solve this puzzling assassination act.
This sets a precedent in the history of crimes in Morocco as it is the first time a former parliamentarian gets assassinated with live ammunition.
