coronavirus: 1900 Germans stranded in Morocco to be flown back home

Frankfurt, Germany(TMT)- The German authorities said that the estimated 1900 stranded German tourists in Morocco would be flown back to their homeland tonight.

Said citizens were left stranded in Morocco after the kingdom decided to stop all flights to Germany amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced in Berlin that the German authorities have readied a 50 million euros budget to bring back stranded German citizens worldwide to their homes.

The main countries where German citizens were left stranded are Morocco, Egypt, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, and the Maldives.

In addition to those in Morocco, Germany will repatriate around 5000 german citizens from Egypt, 1500 from the Dominican Republic, including others stranded in the aforementioned countries.
