Rabat, Morocco (TMT)-Morocco has declared a state of a health emergency, to take effect starting from today at 6:00 pm for an undetermined period, amid the coronavirus outbreak.

A statement of the Moroccan Ministry of Interior states that all citizens “are required to not leave their houses unless they receive authorization from local authorities.”

Authorizations will be delivered for people who need to buy food, get medicines, see a doctor, leave the house for an emergency or go to work.

For people whose presence at the workplace is necessary, authorizations will be delivered, conditioned by the issue of a certificate duly signed and stamped by their superiors at work.

“Local authorities and public forces, National Security and Royal Gendarmerie will be responsible for orienting citizens to respect the implementation of these measures taken for the general interest of the Moroccan people,” the communiqué further reads.
