Tangier Morocco (TMT)- A member of the Tangier city council, Hassan Belekhdir, criticized staunchly the decision to let various industries in the city resume their industrial activities.

Belakhdir warned that an uptick in the number of infections will be witnessed, which will upsurge the burden on health facilities in Tangier, and endanger other people if industries keep their activities.

Without mentioning any company by name, Belakhdir said various workers contacted him, alerting him that their employers have ordered them to resume their work, waging the suspension and firing cards to pressure them to come back.

“Workers are not observing the state-imposed measures, sneaking to their workplaces in Tangier, for fear they will be expelled from their work,” The man said.

“The greatest danger is that some people will travel from other cities to Tangier, without being subjected to any tests, and this can lead to an uptick in the number of infected,” the man said.

“They are afraid to lose their job and are risking their lives and the lives of others in the process,” Belakhdir pointed out.

Balakhdir, who represents the Party of Modernity and Authenticity (PAM), said the Moroccan authorities should not wipe its hands of this.
