Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Various Moroccans have called for the Moroccan Minister of Justice Mohamed Benabdelkader to step down amid his accusation of breaching articles of the Moroccan constitution when trying to pass secretly, in the current dire coronavirus juncture, a bill that aims to muzzle the freedom of speech of Moroccans on social media platforms.

Abdellatif Ouahbi, the secretary-general of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity party said Benabdelkader “should step down,” further stressing that he deems requests to postpone the discussion of bill No. 22.20, to be “wrong as the bill must be withdrawn, not delayed.”

Various members of most political parties in Morocco, whether those forming the current government coalition or from the opposition, including normal Moroccan citizens, have called for the stepping of Benabdelkader on social media platforms.
