Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- A popular Twitter account, believed to be administered by a high ranking officer in Emirati intelligence, alleged in a tweet that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has proposed to King Mohammed VI to support Libyan renegade commander Khalifa Haftar, including dropping the Skhirat political agreement against “quite luring” returns.

The offer will see Morocco acquire Libyan oil at “attractive” prices, including various investment projects for Moroccan companies in Libya.

According to the tweet, the Moroccan monarch “completely refused the offer.”

The relations between Morocco and UAE have been frail following a series of political spats.

Initially, Morocco decided to stop taking part in military action with the Saudi-UAE-led coalition in Yemen. And then relations went from worse to worse when the kingdom refused to take sides with the Saudi-UAE coalition against Qatar, amid the Qatar diplomatic crisis.
