Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Despite the Moroccan ambassador to Algeria Lahcen Abdelkhale stressing that a video showing him stating that “Algeria is an enemy country” was edited as he never pronounced such words, the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum summoned him.

During the meeting, the Algerian minister told the Moroccan ambassador that referring to Algeria as an ‘enemy country’ is a “serious violation of the diplomatic customs and practices, something that cannot be tolerated.”

Boukadoum also said that such a statement is an affront to the “relations between two neighboring countries and two brotherly peoples.”

Boukadoum added that such a statement “requires the Moroccan authorities to take appropriate measures to avoid the repercussions of this incident on bilateral relations.”
