Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s testing capacity will reach in the next few days 10, 000 tests per day, according to the Moroccan head of government Saaededine Othmani.

Othmani, who was speaking yesterday amid a joint session between the parliament’s two houses, stressed: “We are all rallied now to reach 10, 000 tests per day.”

“At the start of the pandemic, only around 1000 tests were performed, all in two testing centers,” Othmani stressed.

Othmani also said that Morocco is currently performing 8000 tests per day.

At the time of writing, Morocco has capped since the start of the pandemic around 90,000 tests.

This is the second-highest figure among all North African countries as only Egypt has performed more tests.

All tests are performed in 9 centers, which include Morocco’s university hospitals (CHU Casablanca, CHU Rabat, CHU Oujda, CHU Fès, CHU Marrakech, and CHU Agadir), as well as the Pasteur Institute of Casablanca, Morocco’s National Hygiene Institute, and the military hospital of Rabat.
