Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- A math teacher at the Moulay Abdellah high school in Moulay Yaakoub, a small town located approximately 12 kilometers northwest of Fez, was physically assaulted last week by one of his students, resulting in the teacher losing vision in his left eye.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation, with the National Confederation of Contracted Teachers in the region issuing a statement expressing solidarity with the teacher and condemning the attack.
The statement also called on the regional director to urgently intervene and address the ongoing issues of violence and misconduct in schools in the region.
This never-heard-of-before case of violence rings an alarm bell and highlights the need for greater attention to be paid to the safety and well-being of teachers and students in schools.
