Casablanca, Morocco (TMT)- The local authorities in the Casablanca-Anfa prefecture have reported the passing of Nora Zoubair, a 29-year-old supporter of Raja Casablanca football team. Nora passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, while she was in the vicinity of the Mohammed V Sports Complex, intending to attend the match between Raja Casablanca and Al Ahly of Egypt for the second leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League in football.
The authorities said civil protection services intervened immediately after the incident was reported, providing first aid to the victim. Nora was then quickly transported to the Moulay Youssef Regional Hospital for further medical care, but she, unfortunately, passed away at the hospital.
However, most fans dispute the authorities’ account of the incident, claiming that Nora was prevented from entering the stadium, despite having a ticket like hundreds of other Raja fans, due to poor organization by the private company in charge. They further note that she was trampled underfoot at the stadium gates while trying to enter the stadium. Fans also allege that medical care was provided to her late. A Facebook Livestream shows Nora lying on the ground motionless.
Nora Zoubair was originally from the city of Mohammedia and was a dedicated fan of Raja Casablanca. She was never swayed by anything when it came to supporting her beloved team, even to the point where she accompanied them to Egypt to watch the first-leg match between Al-Ahly and Raja.
This tragic event has brought together both Widad and Raja fans in mourning. The president of the club shared a post commemorating Nora’s passing, highlighting her unwavering love and dedication for Raja.
