The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration has revealed that it confiscated illicit items hidden in the food baskets sent by relatives of prisoners during the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

In a statement, the delegation emphasized that despite their clear warnings and appeals to the families of the inmates regarding the severe legal consequences of smuggling illicit items, multiple attempts to introduce forbidden items into specific prison facilities were uncovered. Consequently, legal measures have been undertaken against all individuals involved, irrespective of their status as family members or prisoners themselves.

While emphasizing the compassionate intent behind allowing food baskets to be delivered to inmates during the last religious celebration, the delegation expressed its steadfast dedication to implementing all essential measures to ensure the security of prison facilities and the welfare of every prisoner. This extends the possibility of revoking this special authorization if deemed indispensable for maintaining overall safety.
