German Citizen Arrested in Tangier Airport

TANGER, Morocco- On Saturday, customs at Tangier’s Ibn Battuta International Airport detained a 24-year-old German citizen, under an international arrest warrant for alleged drug smuggling.

The arrest occurred upon his arrival from Istanbul, Turkey. It was confirmed via a fingerprinting procedure linked to an Interpol red notice, requested by the German police in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under custody, pending a referral to the competent public prosecutor’s office. The authorities in Rabat were tasked to inform their German counterparts about the arrest for potential extradition.
