The new local prison administration on Friday dismissed the claims made by a former inmate who suggested prisoners are starved. They emphasized that the allegations have no factual basis. This comes in response to a video the ex-prisoner posted on social media about limited supplies during Eid and imprisonment starvation.

The source highlighted that contrary to the prisoner’s allegations, the department allowed the entry of multiple types of desserts during Eid, not just one type as claimed by the individual. Other foods were allowed within the established guidelines, noting this has generally satisfied the inmates.

The management stressed that they are committed to providing meals consisting of all the essential nutritional elements for the inmates, and there have been no complaints or remarks in this regard.

The prison institution denied allegations about the involvement of workers in smuggling prohibited items into the establishment, describing these allegations as false. They pointed out that no staff member has ever been involved in smuggling contrabands.

They also mentioned that the individual in question tried to pressurize the management into granting unlawful privileges during his detention period. However, firmness in dealing with him according to the law led him to attempt to damage the reputation of the institution and its staff.

Finally, the administration confirmed they are keen to apply the law to all prisoners without discrimination. They also ensure full rights to all inmates and retain the right to take legal action against anyone spreading false slander, intending to tarnish its image and the reputation of its workers.
