The Moroccan Union of Labor openly challenged in a statement the commitment of the government to implement agreements established in the first round of discussions in the social dialogue at the end of March.

In the aforementioned statement, the union criticized the government for not introducing any proposals regarding a public wage increase and tax-burden reduction.

The union also voiced its concern over trade-offs involving pay rises in return for accepting major social reforms, calling for a genuine commitment to fair wage increases. The union further questioned the sincerity of the government as it had not been invited to a key group meeting focused on improving incomes and pay.

Lastly, the union stated it didn’t receive the draft law regulating strikes and reiterated the indispensable right to strike which should be considered a human right in defending workers’ demands, urging for productive social dialogue.
