A decomposing human body was washed ashore on Al-Aouamerah beach in Laarache on Tuesday.
The body was first spotted by a local citizen who then alerted the authorities.
Local law enforcement quickly arrived on the scene and began investigating the situation.
The body, which was in the advanced decomposition stage, is believed to belong to an undocumented immigrant which was then transported to the local morgue.
Officers have also launched an investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and possible causes of death.
