The Moroccan government has officially agreed today to a wage increase of 1000 Dirhams per month and a tax reduction of up to 500 Dirhams in the public sector.

The proposal, to be implemented in two stages, has been accepted by most Moroccan unions.

The increase will cover sectors without recent pay raises and those ranked in the 9th pay scale and above.

The wage minimum and the lower salary increases are still under discussion.

Additionally, the government and unions have also agreed to reform the pension system by raising the age to 65 years.
