In the early hours of last Friday, customs officials at the border point between France and Belgium managed to seize around 220 kilograms of cannabis carefully hidden inside the luggage of passengers traveling on a bus operated by a travel agency headquartered in the city of Tangier.

The drugs were discovered by the customs dogs, which raised suspicions among customs officials, who then asked the bus driver and assistants to remove all the luggage on board for a thorough inspection.

During the detailed inspection of the passengers’ luggage, approximately 220 kilograms of drugs were found meticulously concealed inside bags and cardboard boxes.

The French customs officials informed the relevant public prosecutor who ordered the arrest of the driver and his two assistants, handing them over to the judicial police while confiscating the bus.

All 32 other passengers, who were all Moroccan, were searched but found to be clean.

The passengers spent a sleepless night waiting for another bus to be provided to transport them to their destination, Brussels, at the expense of the company.

A night to forget for them.
