Several parliamentarians in Morocco have expressed yesterday, during a parliamentary session, alarm about the increasing spread of tuberculosis in the country, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of Moroccans due to insufficient treatment availability.

Minister Khalid Ait Taleb reported a rise in tuberculosis cases but emphasized the government’s success in early diagnosis and treatment, despite facing drug-resistant strains.

MPs, on the other hand, highlighted the growing incidence of tuberculosis in rural areas like Mediouna, as well as the urgent need for improved healthcare services in densely populated regions.
