On a recent visit to Manila, Philippine, Pope Francis said, in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo carnage, that “one cannot make fun of faith” and that if someone insult others, he can expect a “punch.”
“Every religion has its dignity,” the pope said.
“One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith,” he noted further.
“There is limits. Every religion has its dignity and its values that its adherents value…. in freedom of expression there are limits,” the pope added.
“It’s true that we can’t react violently, but, for example if Dr. Gasbarri here, a great friend of mine, says a curse word against my mother, then a punch awaits him,” the pope stressed.
