Saturday evening, an individual who tried breaking through a security checkpoint east of Bir Anzarane, was fatally wounded after being shot by security forces, reports Alyaoum 24.
The same source adds that authorities at the Oued Ed-Dahab-Lagouira region have been informed that the incident happened after two four-wheel drive cars refused to comply with the authorities orders to stop and tried to storm the checkpoint, which has led the security forces to use their firearms and fatally wounding one of the passengers.
One of the drivers was able to flee the scene with the body of the shot individual before abandoning him 140 kilometres south of the city of Laayoune.
The other car was stopped where the security forces found two tons of Hashish and a satellite phone.
An investigation was opened under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
