The Draa and Wadi Nun River Basin Agency reported a concerning 24% rainfall deficit and a 34% decline in dam fill levels.

According to the aforementioned source, the situation has greatly affected the water reserves in key dams that supply drinking water to various cities in this region bordering the great Sahara.

To counteract these climatic challenges, the Agency enforced several measures. The completion of the Fask Dam and a water treatment station in 2023 also aimed to alleviate water shortage problems.
