Morocco to Invest USD 2.6 Billion in a Power Plant in Safi.

Abdelkader Amara, the Moroccan Minister of Energy, Mines, Water and Environment has announced the completion of the financing plan of a power plant in Safi.

The signing of the project took place on Wednesday with the presence of the head of the government Abdelilah Benkirane, some other ministers as well as some representatives of many national and international companies.

This project will cost a total of 23 billion dirhams and will provide up to 1386 MW per year, which will allow covering around 25% of the national demand in electricity by 2018.

The plant will be built by South Korean Daewoo Engineering & Construction and the estimated construction period is 46 months.
