A recent report from the World Health Organization (WHO) said that in a matter of one year, Morocco witnessed more than 1,600 cases of suicide.

The report, which provides data for the year 2012, says that more Moroccan men have committed suicide compared to women.

The suicide death toll in 2012 in Morocco was exactly at 1628, the report said. This number represents an average of almost 4.5 people who commit suicide per day.

The report highlighted that 1,431 Moroccan men committed suicide while only 198 cases were reported for women.

The report went on further to say that suicide rate in Morocco has rocketed, namely increasing by a 97.8% factor between 2000 and 2012.

While in Morocco, 4.5 people commit suicide every day, in the whole world, in every 40 seconds a person puts and end to his/her life.
