The dimensions of the recently innovated Moulay Abdellah stadium of Rabat do not fit the FIFA recommendation standard of length: 105m, width: 68m as the field of the said stadium has a length of 108 meters and a with of 66.

Various leading news outlets in Morocco as well as various internet users have lauded of critics “those behind this scandal” for their “lack of responsibility” and “negligence”, especially that the renovation works of the said stadium cost the country a hand and a leg.

The FIFA clearly stipulates in its charter that “for all matches at the top professional level and where major international and domestic games are played, the playing field should have dimensions of 105m x 68m.

“These dimensions are obligatory for the FIFA World Cup™ and the final competitions in the confederations’ championships. The playing field should have the precise markings illustrated. Other matches can be played on a playing field with different dimensions and the Laws of the Game stipulate the maximum and minimum dimensions. However it is strongly recommended that new stadiums have a 105m x 68m playing field,” the FIFA Charter reads.

The FIFA has not yet been outspoken about this, but it will fail not to pinpoint such “deeds” in the aftermath of the world cup in its well-known “evaluation report.”
