A Moroccan teacher in the city of Agadir will stand for 5 years behind bars after he was sentenced guilty of sexually abusing his 13-year-old student by the court of Appeal of the said city.

The case has sparked a storm of online protest in the region, especially that the teacher was accused by 8 other families of abusing their kids, with some advancing that the man in question used to touch their kids “in very sensitive parts of their bodies.”

Last year, the Court of First Instance handed the man a one year sentence, which triggered the victims’ family members to echo their non-satisfaction vis-à-vis the ruling, and shoehorn the case to the Court of Appeal, as, back then, they taught the man did not receive “a very severe punishment for his acts.”
