Erdogan: Egypt Turned Back Into “Pharaonic Egypt” After Sentencing Mursi to Death

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Turkey’s president, Tayyip Erdoğan denounced the death sentence former Egyptian president Mohammed Mursi was sentenced to today, stressing that Egypt has turned back into Pharaonic Egypt with such a decision.

Erdoğan not only criticised the decision, but also lauded the Western leaders of criticism for turning a blind eye to the case, Turkey’s state-run media outlet Anadol reported.

“The popularly elected president of Egypt, chosen with 52% of the vote, has unfortunately been sentenced to death,” Erdoğan said angrily at a rally held today Istanbul

“Egypt is turning back into ancient Egypt,” referring to the Pharaonic era.

“The west, unfortunately, is still turning a blind eye to Sisi’s coup,” he angrily stressed.

“While they abolished the death penalty in their own countries, they just look on as spectators at this execution in Egypt,” Erdogan stressed.
