At Least 87 Moroccans Passed Away in Mina Stampede

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to official supervisors of the Moroccan pilgrims to Mecca, representing the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, at least 87 Moroccans died as a result of the stampede that occurred yesterday in Mina, near Mecca, challenge.ma reported.

One of the official supervisor told challenge.ma during a phone call from Mecca that the total number of victims is higher than 1,000 dead.

Moroccan news outlet Febrayer.com reported that among the victims is the official Muezzin (The man who calls for prayers) of the Hassan II mosque in Casablanca.

The late is the father of leading Moroccan TV host Leila Hadioui.

It is worth reminding that no official statement from the Moroccan officials on the number of Moroccan casualties was released yet.
