Agadir, Morocco (TMT)- Moroccan MP from the Socialist Party, Abdelkader El Taher, has called for national fish wealth to be made affordable to all Moroccans.

The MP emphasized that Morocco produces around 1.3 million tons of fish annually, but it remains unavailable on the tables of Moroccans due to high prices.

El Taher noted that the problem of scarcity of fish in Moroccan markets is mainly due to the exportation of fish abroad and the free market system.

The MP asked Mohamed Sadiki, the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, about the measures taken to restructure the fishing industry and streamline it to serve the national economy, including focusing on domestic consumption.
