Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- In an interview given last Saturday night to Chada FM radio channel, Morocco’s head of the government Abdellilah Benkirane said that Morocco does not, and cannot, use the silly tricks the Algerian authorities resort to in financing terrorist organizations to destabilize other countries in the region.

“You’ll never hear someday that Morocco financed Mokhtar Belmokhtar, or that Morocco asked him to attack Algeria’s interest like what was released recently in Wikileaks,” Benkirane stressed.

“We are a Cherifian [ It may mean in this context a honest and righteous] country,” Benkirane said.

Benkirane was referring to Hilary clinton’s emails archive that was made searchable by Wikileaks a couple of days ago. The archive, containing a trove of diplomatic cables, unveiled that Algeria financed, or at least sought to finance, Belmokhtar, who is the leader of the group Al-Murabitoun, and a former military commander of Al-Qaeda in the Maghreb, in a bet to infiltrate the southern region of Morocco and perpetrate terrorist attacks.
