Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco is asking Jean Ping to respect the “decision rendered yesterday by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Gabon, confirming the re-election of President Ali Bongo Ondimba,” a communiqué from Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation read.

“This important decision concludes the process of the presidential election in this brotherly African country,” the communiqué reads.

“Morocco, strongly attached to the exceptional ties between the two countries, calls on all actors to respect this decision rendered by the highest court of Gabon, and to uphold the higher interests of the nation, its stability and the prosperity of its people.

“The Kingdom of Morocco is confident that all Gabonese political forces will act in a spirit of unity, understanding and openness, as well as engage in an inclusive and peaceful dialogue,” the communiqué closed.
