Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The High Commission for Planning (HCP) head, Ahmed Alami Lahlimi said in an interview given to EFE, a Spanish international news agency, that coronavirus will deal a severe blow to Morocco’s economy.

Lahlimi projected that Morocco will experience negative growth this year.

Lahlimi said that growth in the second quarter of 2020 will hover around 1.8%.

The aforementioned represents a loss estimated at US$ 1.09 billion.

Nevertheless, Lahlimi noted that the country’s rapid response to the coronavirus outbreak will likely bear the brunt and blunt the damage compared to what could have happened if the authorities were to react late.
