Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister made no bones about calling Belgium and Netherland’s repatriation schemes “discriminatory.”

In a statement given to Morocco’s state agency La MAP, Bouritta said that if Belgium has adhered to a discriminatory repatriation scheme only in the last few days, “the Netherlands has right from the start displayed a discriminatory attitude towards Moroccans holding dual citizenship.”

Bourita stressed that it was only after around thirty flights that repatriated ethnic Dutch people that the Netherlands began to take an interest in Dutch citizens of Moroccan origin, those with dual citizenship.

Discussing the conditions of repatriation in general, the Minister said “it had taken place in good conditions, except for one country,” which according to him is indulging in “political expediency”.

Bourita made the statements yesterday on the sidelines of a parliamentary committee meeting at the House of Representatives.
