Tawada n’Imazighen has called for holding a new demonstration for the defense of Amazigh identity on Sunday April 20, in Rabat.

In a press release, Tawada n’Imazighen has called for holding a demonstration to “continue protesting until the adoption of  a democratic constitution both in form and content which establishes Morocco’s Amazigh identity.”

This demonstration is also meant to pressure the government for the implementation of reforms for the revival of Amazigh culture and language. While the constitution of 2011 recognized Tamazight as an official language in Morocco, little was done in terms of integrating the language in education, media, justice, and other public services.

Tawada n’Imazighen is a Moroccan movement dedicated for the defense of Amazigh identity, rights, and culture which groups several Amazigh associations. The movement actively participated to demonstrations held in the context of the 2011 uprisings.
