Members of the reformist current “democracy and openness”, which is led by Ahmed Zaidi and brings together the opponents of Driss Lachgar, first secretary of the USFP, have recently held a meeting in order to become better organized.
During their meeting they have called for creating a national coordination of the reformist current that will initiate itself through sit-ins.
It is plausible that the current will step up its pressure on Driss Lachgar through direct confrontation, after the failure of all consensual approaches.
Lachgar’s critics claim that he has no desire to reunite the socialist family. There are even voices within the party who claim the possibility of leaving the USFP.
