On Sunday, around 200 people have demonstrated in Rabat to demand the release of activists of the 20th of February movement that have been sentenced to prison terms on Thursday.

These protesters marched late afternoon under police surveillance, chanting “Free our political prisoners”.

At the Ain Sebaâ court in Casablanca, 5 of the activists were sentenced to a year in prison and 4 other to six months for “organizing an unauthorized demonstration” and “violence against police officers “, during the march that was organized by the three major unions of the Kingdom, which has rallied about 10.000 persons.

There are different versions to this story as some NGOs claim that these activists were arrested for repeating chants against the regime as a whole, however, the police claims that five members have been injured.
