Since the proclamation of a Caliphate by the Islamic State, formally known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Moroccan security services are on an alert state, relays H24info and Akhbar Al Yaoum.

The aforementioned sources report that the Minister of Interior, Mohamed Hassad, has confirmed such claims at the end of government’s meeting this Thursday, and has called for mobilization.

Mr Hassad has deemed the threat as “serious” based on reports of the country’s security services and intelligence. A statement issued at the end of the government’s meeting states: “Moroccans fighting within the ranks of Da’ich (ISIS) are becoming numerous. Some of them occupy large functions and have never hidden their intentions to carry out actions targeting Morocco”.

The minister has said that the alert state was raised to its highest level among all security services. In fact several meetings at different corners of the kingdom were held, with the attendance of high-profile individuals from different security departments of the country, relays the same sources.
