Morocco will be training 500 Guinean imams, a statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs read.

The draft agreement to train the said 500 Guinean imams comes on the sidelines of the Morocco-Guinea Economic Forum. It was, as a matter of fact, signed yesterday in Rabat, in the presence of Mohamed Said Fofana, Guinea’s Prime Minister.

In the same statement, the Moroccan Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq said that Guinea’s officials sent an official request to King Mohammed VI asking him to train their imams, a move which the Moroccan monarch responded to positively.

The Moroccan Press Agency (La MAP) said that the said agreement “touches on the training, in the first place, of 100 imams currently working in the different Guinean mosques, divided into three groups. Each group will benefit form a three-month training.”

“The agreement will also benefit 400 imams divided into 4 groups. Every group will benefit from a basic training spanning two years,” La MAP reported.
