I will fight to the end to never let a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, a Black, an Arab, a White or a Rom be a victim of racism, discrimination and hatred. Without hierarchy or selection: all forms of racism are intolerable.

I will fight to the end to never accept the silence imposed by dictatorships, extremist activists, state terrorism, despots of African regimes, or in the Middle East, within the Gulf States and in Asia. I will fight to the end against all these state excesses, those policies of torture and death, I will fight and condemn without making any exception … No exceptions… And the Israeli state terrorism is no exception.

Is that not a fair and just application of the letter and the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is permanently betrayed by the selective indignation and silences of the Western States? There is indeed a reason to be indignant …

Professor Tariq Ramadan is a man of no need to introduction. He holds MA in Philosophy and French literature and PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva. In Cairo, Egypt he received one-on-one intensive training in classic Islamic scholarship from Al-Azhar University scholars. Tariq Ramadan is Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University (Oriental Institute, St Antony’s College ). He is also teaching at the Faculty of Theology at Oxford.
