Morocco’s Minister of Youth and Sports Mohammed Ouzzine has been officially sacked today by King Mohammed VI, few days following the end of the investigation of what is commonly being referred to in Morocco as “The Moulay Abdellah Stadium Swimming Pool Scandal.”

The Moroccan Governing Council, under the chairmanship of Morocco’s head of the government Abdelilah Benkirane, said few days ago that the investigation was conducted and that they will have to wait for the return of King Mohammed VI, who spent the new year in Turkey with his family, to make a final decision.

The Moulay Abdellah Swimming Pool Scandal” was triggered last month during the 2014 FIFA Clubs World Cup when the Australians of Western Sydney Wanderers and the Mexicans of Cruz Azul had to play in farcical conditions following the said stadium, supposedly renovated at a cost estimated at $22 million, getting heavily waterlogged after moderate rainfalls.

It is worth reminding that back in December, few hours following the scandal, King Mohammed VI has suspended Mohammed Ouzzine from his duties at the head of the Ministry of Sports and has given his orders to not allow Ouzzine attend the final match of the FIFA Club World Cup.
