Even though the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said today, in its yearly report featuring the results of its bilateral consultations with Morocco, that the Moroccan economy is, to some extent, on the right track, its directors emphasized that the Moroccan officials should enhance transparency and governance, and address corruption.

A statement from the IMF read that its “directors called for further action on enhancing transparency and governance, streamlining administrative procedure, and addressing corruption. Continued efforts toward reforming the labor market, increasing the efficiency of spending on education and vocational training, and raising female participation remain important going forward.”

The IMF directors also stressed that structural reforms in Morocco “remain critical for reducing unemployment, diversifying the economy, and promoting higher and more inclusive growth, including by improving the business environment and strengthening competitiveness.”
