Morocco’s Benkirane Reshuffles Cabinet for the Second Time

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Morocco on Wednesday announced a government reshuffle which saw 5 new minister swear in (check video underneath) before King Mohammed VI, in an event which saw the presence of Morocco’s head of the government Abdelillah Benkirane and various notorious personalities.

The newly appointed ministers are:

Driss Merroun, Minister of Urbanism and Town Planning (Popular Movement party).

Abdelaziz El Omari, Minister for Relations with Parliament and Civil Society (Justice and Development Party).

Khalid Barjaoui, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training (Popular Movement party).

Jamila El Moussalli, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executive Training (Justice and Development Party).

Mohammed Laenser, Minister of Youth and Sports (Secretary General of Popular Movement party).

It is worth reminding that this is the second cabinet reshuffle since Morocco’s Justice and Development party (PJD) won the 2011 elections.

An earlier reshuffle in 2013 saw Benkirane’s cabinet grow from 31 to 39 positions.
