Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- Casablanca’s court of Appeal confirmed the sentencing to 3 years of jail, and a fine of 80000 dirhams, for Moroccan folk music star Said Weld Lhwat, after having raped a minor.

Weld Lhwat’s defense appeal and efforts to be acquitted went in vain against the hard proof provided by the victim, a voice record that documents the intimate relationship between him and the girl, especially that the man stated that “his relationship with the girl does not exceed that of a star with a fan.”

The young girl, a minor, said that initially, she came to know the singer after they exchanged their phone numbers.

“Then one day, he called me and asked me to join him in his house for a drink and I accepted,” the girl stated.

“Once there, all I remember is that I innocently drunk a cup juice and then I started feeling dizzy and sleepy,” the girl stressed.

“When I woke up the next day, I found out that I was raped,” the minor said.
