Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- The Moroccan city of Salé, on the right bank of the Bou Regreg river, located on the opposite side of Rabat, is on a high security alert after the discovery of brand new tear gas grenades.

A resident who headed to a nearby field for his daily sport practices made the discovery of the grenades, thinking initially that they were bombs.

The man alerted the authorities on the fly, and a special team came right away to the scene to investigate the matter.

It turned out that the objects discovered were not bombs, but rather brand new tear gas grenades.

People speculate that someone disposed of the grenades that way to avoid a thorough police investigation, including a heavy jail sentence as is strictly forbidden to possess tear gas grenades in the Moroccan kingdom.

An investigation was launched, and in the meantime, the authorities are on a high security alert.
