King Mohammed VI appoints Saadeddine Othmani head of government

Saadeddine Othmani, former secretary general of the PJD was appointed this afternoon head of the Moroccan government.

Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- King Mohammed VI appointed this afternoon the former secretary general of the Justice and Development Party (PJD), Saadeddine Othmani, head of the Moroccan government, less than two days after reliving Abdellilah Benkirane from his duties as head of government in charge of forming a government coalition, amid a political deadlock witnessed in the kingdom.

King Mohammed VI tasked Othmani with forming a new government.

Othmani, the vice-secretary general of the PJD party, held formerly the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation portfolio.

The Justice and Development Party won 126 seats in the last parliamentary elections, 21 more than 2011.
