Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- The Justice and Development Party (PJD) parliamentarians are advocating for a law that would prevent dual nationals from holding government positions.

The current government includes a significant number of ministers who hold dual citizenships and this seems to strike a nerve with various members of the PJD party.

The proposed legislative change would modify articles 31, 33, and 35 of regulatory law No. 13.065, which governs the organization and management of government work and the legal status of its members.

The proposed law aims to prevent dual nationals from accessing government positions. Specifically, article 31 of the proposal states that “individuals who do not have their civil and political rights, as well as those with other nationalities, are not eligible for government membership.”
